Which ports does Shipping.dk cover in Denmark?

All ports in Denmark are covered by Shipping.dk.

Why do we have to pay “Icebreaker Readiness Dues”?

Icebreaker Readiness Dues are charged all year. It is up to the port if they want to place the expense on the vessel owners or cover it themselves. Icebreaker Readiness Dues are between DKK 0.07 and 0.12 per ton discharged or loaded.

How is pilotage calculated?

Pilotage costs are based on vessels loa, beam and draft. Calculations can be done on www.danpilot.dk using the “Rate Calculator” feature.

Is pilotage compulsory for my vessel?

Pilot in internal Danish water is compulsory for vessels: 
  • Carrying oil or having unclean slop tanks not secured with inert gas.
  • Carrying chemicals.
  • Carrying gases.
  • Having more than 5,000 mts bunkering oil onboard.
  • Carrying highly radioactive material.

How many STS locations are there in Denmark?

We have 3 approved STS locations:
  • Off Skaw – unlimited draft (more than 30 m water depth)
  • Off Kalundborg – up to 17.0 m draft
  • Off Copenhagen (Helsingoer) – up to 15.0 m draft

Is pilot and tugs compulsory when doing STS?

STS pilot to berth / unberth the vessels is compulsory.
 
Pilot to and from STS positions in internal Danish Waters is compulsory for vessels: 
  • Carrying oil or having unclean slop tanks not secured with inert gas.
  • Carrying chemicals.
  • Carrying gases.
  • Having more than 5.000 mts bunkering oil onboard.
  • Carrying highly radioactive material. 
Tugs are compulsory and decided by STS pilot.

Which commodities can we do STS with in Denmark?

At the moment guidelines only cover oil products – if other products/commodities are to be considered we have to apply separately with Danish Maritime Authorities.

 

We are allowed to do STS alongside in ports with other commodities – please contact us for this.

What notice does the Danish Maritime Authorities require?

We need to report the STS 48 hours in advance – if not done in time we can be asked to postpone the STS in order to fulfill the notice time.

Can Shipping.dk arrange fenders, hoses and mooring master?

Yes – Shipping.dk has established a partnership with SPT Marine Services – the world’s largest STS equipment provider – handling all their equipment and operations in Danish Waters. We are always able to offer safe, competent and competitive STS solutions.

What do you call the freight documents concerning air freight?

The air freight documents are called AWB (Air Way Bill).

Can I follow my shipments via track and trace?

Yes. All AWB numbers can be tracked via the web pages of the airline companies. You can also call your contact person at Shipping.dk.

What does the abbreviation IATA stand for?

IATA stands for International Air Transport Association. The main purpose of IATA is to safeguard legal competition between the companies and also to uniformise the prices.

What is the cost of sending goods by air freight?

The air freight rate depends on the destination (to and from) as well as the weight.

Will cargo booked to Shipping.dk only be moved on your own vessels?

No. We tailor solutions that fit the client and his needs – using vessels on trip charter or as part cargo.

Which kind of cranes can Shipping.dk supply?

All kinds of cranes. From truck cranes of approximately 10 tons meter up to 1,000 ton crawler cranes and all kinds of floating cranes up to 2,000 tons.

We work mainly in Northern Europe but are capable to organize project cargo Worldwide.

What kinds of cargo have been transported by Shipping.dk?

As examples of cargo please see below list of references: 
  • Midwater arch from Batam, Indonesia loaded to a barge with a floating crane from Singapore. Weight: 300 ton.
  • Heavy reels of up to 360 tons each from Europe to Asia, Far East, Australia, Brazil, Mexican Gulf, etc.
  • A complete football stadium from Ireland to Italy.
  • Generators of 160 ton each from Northern Europe to Mediterranean area.
  • Industrial modules from Ireland to Scandinavia weighing up to 180 ton. 
And many more odd size transports.

Will Shipping.dk be able to arrange turn key projects?

Indeed. We work more as a partner rather than a supplier and have great experience with this.

Will Shipping.dk accept only turn key projects or will you accept to manage a part of the job?

We can accept only a part of the job and will at all times take responsibility for the part we are involved in.

Road

 

Do you have daily departures to and from Sweden and Norway?

Yes, we have daily departures to and from Sweden and Norway. We have both 2 and 3 axle, tautliners (curtain trailers), double-deck and long combination vehicles.

Can you transport dangerous goods?

Yes, all our drivers are trained in handling dangerous goods and we have ADR safety equipment on the trucks.

What are the rules concerning driving time and rest periods?

How do I deal with damages?

All international transports are carried out according to the CMR Convention. 
 
In case of VISIBLE damage you have to complain right away upon receipt and state the reason for your complaint on the freight letter. 

In case of INVISIBLE damage you have to submit a written complaint within 7 weekdays.

What is the maximum size of the packages I can send?

Because of the size of the door openings of our trucks and air planes your shipment cannot exceed 120 cm. We will be pleased to investigate whether it is possible to send larger shipments to the destination you want to reach.

What do you call sea freight documents?

Sea freight documents are called either HBL (House Bill of Lading) or MBL (Master Bill of Lading).

Terminal & Stevedore

 

How many square meters of warehouse does Shipping.dk dispose of?

We have app. 100,000 m2 at our disposal, which can be used for storing general cargo as well as bulk cargo.

How many square meters of warehouse space do you have to rent as a minimum?

We can rent out from 200 m2 up to 20,000 m2 at a time – it depends on the job at hand and what the customer wants.

Can Shipping.dk store and handle dangerous goods for me?

Yes, several of the terminals are approved for storing and handling different types of dangerous goods. Further approvals can be obtained from the authorities when we have a detailed description of the product and the scope of the job.

Does Shipping.dk rent out machines without drivers?

We rent out our machines without drivers from several of our terminals, but usually we recommend that you use one of our experienced and accomplished drivers.

Can Shipping.dk handle wood pellets for the consumer market?

Yes, Shipping.dk has ATEX approved screeners which can screen the wood pellets before they are handed over to the customers. We also have bagging facilities that can bag the pellets in bags and on pallets as well as deliver them to the customer.

Is Shipping.dk able to handle large quantities of cargo – for instance 30,000 ton at a time?

Yes, Shipping.dk has terminals in several deep-draught ports where water debt, crane resources, warehouse and infra structure guarantee a fast and efficient handling of cargos in coaster (i.e. 2,500 tons) as well as importer size (i.e. 30,000 tons).

Bagging

 

Which sizes can you bag?

We can bag in all sizes. However, the most common sizes are 10 kg, 15 kg, 16 kg and 25 kg.

Yes, we bag everything from 300 kg big bags to 1,500 kg big bags.

What is the minimum quantity needed to start up bagging?

Typically, we bag several kinds of products every week. Depending on the product we usually need app. 100 tons to start up production.

Can Shipping.dk deliver the foil for bagging?

Yes, we will be pleased to deliver foil, pallets and everything else needed for a bagging production. If you wish to deliver the foil or anything else we have to approve it beforehand in order to ensure the quality of the bagging.
